Choate’s Liniment is a trusted solution for relieving minor stiffness and soreness caused by over-exertion in horses. This time-tested remedy is particularly effective in treating conditions such as bog spavin, bowed tendons, bucked shins, curbs, osselets, pop knees, splints, stocking up (edema), and suspensory ligament damage. Choates Liniment helps alleviate muscle and joint discomfort, promoting mobility and comfort for horses in recovery. It also produces moderate scurfing, which enhances its therapeutic effects. When diluted, it serves as an excellent body brace. However, due to regulatory requirements, this product is unavailable for sale in California.
Mineral oil, turpentine, peppers, mustard flour, and other spices.
Supplies needed: Choates Liniment, standing bandages (leg wrap and bandage).
1. Ensure the affected area is clean and free from other medications. 2. Pour a portion of Choates Liniment into your hand and apply it to the area, rubbing in with the hair. 3. Rubbing with your hand will result in deeper penetration and more scurfing. 4. Alternatively, apply with a leg brush by brushing with the hair. 5. After application, leave the area open or wrap with a standing bandage for maximum effect. 6. Do not apply Choates Liniment under tack to avoid irritation or blistering.
For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Do not apply to broken skin. Always use as directed and discontinue use if excessive irritation occurs. Keep out of reach of children. Not for use on horses intended for food. Not for sale in California due to regulatory requirements.
